In windows Xp I found this method to hide a folder.
I found this method in metacafe. it sounds interesting.
1) rename the folder you want to hide
2) type in name field Alt+255 //see note for this step
3) then hit enter you can see a folder icon with no name.
4) now right click folder go to folder properties >> customize >> change Icon
5) choose icon from 2nd row 13th column.from windows default icons.
note: you must have numpad in your keyboard for typing"225" some laptops/notebooks don't have numpad so this will not work on them.
also u can create many different characters.
with alt combination
alt+ 123456987 = █ ████R████e████d████$████p████3████L████L████
alt+ 1937 = æ
alt+ 5915 = ←
alt+ 3575 = ≈
alt+ 794613= ⌡
and so on.
